News From DBRCA President

  Hello fellow fliers:

Club Meeting this Saturday, 6/22/2019 @9am having hotdogs and beans for lunch.

Cookout and fly-in on July 7th to celebrate Independence Day.  Bring some food to share!!

Important information about FAA new Federal Aviation Regulation:

Our  club's flying field IS LOCATED IN CONTROLLED AIRSPACE. As per the  guidelines stated by the FAA, we are limited to 400ft altitude limit.

We  are required to fly only within line of sight. We are required to have  our FAA number displayed on the outside of our aircraft.

The local FAA inspector has been given a key to the gate. If he visits while you are at the field, please be courteous!!

These  FAA regulations are not up for debate. Please try to adhere to the new  laws or we can potentially be as problematic as the ones forcing them to  be written.

Thank You

Gary Clark

Club President

Our flying sites

Our original flying site was located at the Volusia County Fairgrounds. When the fairgrounds needed to expand, we move to a location on SR 40 in Ormond Beach. This site was a wetland area and would often flood but the land changed hands and we once again moved. Our next site was on SR44 in New Smyrna Beach. This site was an old chicken farm and we were able to use the concrete slab from one of the old coops as a landing strip.

Our Current Site

Our current site is located on Volusia county property off CR415 (Tomoka Farms Road) near the Volusia county land fill. If coming from SR92 (north), the entrance is after the landfill on the west side of the road. If you are coming from the south and have reached the landfill, you have gone too far.We offer two covered pavilions with concrete pads. There is a main, large pavilion with picnic benches. The second pavilion is located by the helicopter flying area. The flying site does not supply electricity, trash pickup or running water.

The Gate

Because the flying site is on county land, we are required to keep the property locked. If you are a visitor, feel free to wait outside the gate. Your best bet is to arrive anytime between 8:45am and 9:30am when members often arrive and you may follow us in.
